CLASS HISTORY
1

Tonight we are gathered on the threshold of tomorrow, a threshold climaxing three prosperous years of our lives, which have built for us a sturdy foundation for the future. Now, as we are poised, ready to step into new worlds of experience, let us stop for a moment and think back on those wonderful times that we have had, those experiences that have helped make us the people we are. Let us look back at those most cherished memories of our lives at Brainerd.

What are your first memories of Brainerd? Perhaps you remember Brainerd even before she had this auditorium in which we now sit. That was the first year Brainerd opened, and we were only in the ninth grade. How long ago it seems that we ate sandwiches on the gym steps for lunch! Gayle Dover was the ninth grade's contribution to the cheerleaders that year.

Most of us came the next year, in the fall of 1961. Probably your oldest memories are of registration that year, when you chatted gaily with a friend, trying to look older that a sophomore. Soon, however, we became accustomed to high school life and gained some self confidence. Do you remember our class officers of that year? Chuck Boyd was our president and Albie Jones was vice-president. Anna Dalton held the office of secretary, while Sherre Adkins was our competent treasurer. Pam Paty, Gayle Dover, and Anna Dalton were the sophomore cheerleaders, while Sherry Martin, Janet Bell, and Jackie Koch were majorettes. All of us tried to take an active part in Brainerd's growing scholastic and extracurricular programs, eager to overcome our sophomore status as quickly as possible.
